WHAT - ERIC CONFIRMS THAT KURT AND COURTNEY WERE GOING TO DIVORCE

If you read through Eric’s passive-aggressive, overt, but covert descriptions of his life circa Nirvana and post 2000, you start seeing him directly talking about not only Courtney Love, but her relationship with Kurt.

This section clarifies, once and for all, that they were getting a divorce but it wasn’t finalized because of his death. Also that she’s very machiavellian and self interested.

Even though Eric is a coward, his style of directly, but indirectly saying what he really feels comes in the form of metaphorical references.

Some of them are direct, and in Eric-speak, this as direct as it gets.

They were getting a divorce and his prose describes that she was more interested in herself than her relationship with her band and abused the people around her.

However, he’s caught in wanting to forgive her but then realizes that he can, yet can’t.

I did not expect to find this.

This is a major deal because Courtney at no point would ever want anyone to think that they were divorcing because them divorcing would have prevented her from being famous. She’ll entertain it, but will never admit that it was happening. Speaking as if they didn’t want to divorce and that they were perfect for each other is her fail safe.

So what’s the compromise? Verbatim saying that she owns him because she’s bankrolled by his legacy.

It all adds further proof of his abuse. Not only Kurt Cobain, but Eric too apparently.

Abuse why? Because you’re trying to hide the status and nature of your relationships in order to prevent people from finding out that you fucked everyone over - and deciding that you want to own these people and treat them like toys that you can publicly use and no one can tell that you’re hurting them.

Imagine that there’s a rich male banker that has a public relationship with a woman he met that wasn’t in the spotlight. They break up and the details are gritty but he decides to entertain people with the idea that they’re still together and they’re perfectly happy. He wants to maintain his image so even though his wife commits suicide, he gasses people up to think that they were perfectly happy and he didn’t do anything wrong. The image of his relationship helps build his own. It’s also his way of maintaing control over her.

What is the difference between the two?
